I am using an IC-Async Frame Grabber for image acquisition. But regardless of resolution, trigger mode etc. the image always contains strictly horizontal black stripes. Is the grabber damaged?

Not necessarily. There are two more likely sources for this kind of behaviour.

For one thing, it may be possible that you are experiencing problems with busmaster transfers from the Frame Grabber to the host memory. Some mainboards have a quite bad support of busmastering in the sense that it does only work in certain slots. Therefor it may help to simply put the frame grabber into another PCI-Slot. Please also make sure, that you have busmastering enabled in your system BIOS (some BIOSes give the option to completely disable busmastering).

The other possible reason for black stripes on the IC-Async are problems with the clamping. To check this, open your configfile for the IC-Async with the ITEX camera configurator. Select the 'Advanced' tab and scroll all the way down to the bottom. There you will see an option called 'Clamp source' which may be set as 'Sync Stripper Pulse'. Change this to 'Programmable Pulse', and see if the stripes still appear.

| If both methods do not change the situation, you should contact your board vendor on this topic. |
